Paph
Paphiopedilum Akegoromo
(P. micranthum X P. x wenshanense)

These could be very similar to Paph. Kevin Porter (Paph. micranthum X Paph. bellatulum) possibly with higher quality and consistency. Round form with creamy white background and raspberry overlay and patterning. Very high potential. Paph. x wenshanense is a natural hybrid composed of Paph. bellatulum and Paph. concolor. Very attractive leaves and compact plant habit make this a good choice for fluorescent light gardens.

Paphiopedilum Eclair Blanc (P. Lady Isabel '#1' X P. niveum 'Snowflake')
Paph. Lady Isabel is a primary hybrid of Paph. rothschildianum and Paph. stonei. Expect something similar to Paph. Woluwense (P. rothschildianum X P. niveum), but easier to bloom from an extra degree of hybrid vigor. White background with attractive dark red-brown markings; pouch brushed pink.

Paphiopedilum Elfin Charm
(P. primulinum forma flavum 'Lemon Pie' X P. fairrieanum)

This is a fave of ours. Looks an aweful lot like P. fairrieanum album with some dark red highlights, but blooms with two to three flowers sometimes twice a year. Way easy to grow and bloom. Vigorous thanks to the Cochlopetalum parent, P. primulinum forma flavum. Blooming size plants, multi-growth.

Paphiopedilum Fairy Dell
(P. Delophyllum 'Soft Touch' X P. fairrieanum 'Regal Ruffle')

We love the potential of this hybrid! Paph. Black Diamond is (P. delenatii X P. fairrieanum) and is very elegant but the pants can be buggers to grow and bloom only every couple years for most people. By adding in a dose of an easy to grow and bloom Cochlopetalum, Paph. glaucophyllum, which also blooms successively, you get the same feel as Paph. Black Diamond, but way more satisfying and reliable to have in a collection. A couple or three white flowers overlaid pink with the backswept petals of Paph. fairrieanum. Chunky, multi-growth plants! I think one ate the neighbor's cat? Some previously bloomed.

Paphiopedilum Fanaticum
(P. malipoense 'ma 55' X P. micranthum)
A very popular Parvisepalum hybrid using the absolutely fabulous Paph. micranthum and Paph. malipoense. Background color is usually white to light green with stunning raspberry network paterning on the petals and various degrees of raspberry on the puffy pouch and sepals. Flowers are held on strong, tall inflorescences over gorgeous leaves on compact plants which grow well under lights.

Paphiopedilum Grant Szabo
(P. Delrosi ‘Dark Pink’ X P. primulinum fma. flavum ‘Surprise’)

Paph. Delrosi (P. delenatii X P. rothschildianum) is a gorgeous thing. It is well known for its beauty and for being reluctant to bloom. The free-blooming Paph. primulinum easily challenges this stingy habit. Expect a couple or three decent sized flowers per inflorescence. Flower color will be white to pale pink with pink ovelay and some tesselation. A decent choice for fluorescent light gardens and windowsills.

Paphiopedilum Heron’s Faire

Very nice albino Paph. fairrieanum look-alike. The Paph. fairrieanum used was completely albino in phenotype, but some of these are showing a little bit of very pale pinks. All of them are super cute and way easier to grow and bloom than Paph. fairrieanum forma bohlmannianum. Compact plants great for light gardens.

Paphiopedilum Lady Isabel
(P. stonei '#2' X P. rothschildianum '#3')
In our opinion, still one of the finest multifloral hybrids. Add up the size and form of Paph. rothschildianum with the nice pouch color and attractive markings of Paph. stonei and you get Paph. Lady Isabel. Three to five large flowers held proudly above a sizeable plant. These are beefy blooming size plants with second growths starting; they could spike up in spring to bloom in summer. NICE, big plants!

Paphiopedilum Lynleigh in Pink
(P. Ho Chi Minh ‘Pink Balloon’ X P. malipoense ‘Puff Ball’)

Not surprising that this is very similar to Paph. Lynleigh Koopowitz (Paph. delenatii X Paph. malipoense) (shown at left). These are a little pinker though since Paph. vietnamense in Paph. Ho Chi Minh does not quench color like Paph. delenatii can. One or two white to pale green flowers tesselated raspberry above beautiful leaves on a compact plant excellent for windowsill or light gardens.

Paphiopedilum Magic Lantern
(P. delenatii X P. micranthum 'Red')

If you like Paph. micranthum but have trouble blooming it, this hybrid might be a good choice for you. Combines the best traits of both parents to give beautiful, round, pink flowers teselated and overlaid raspberry on a tall, fuzzy stem above very pretty foliage. Plants are compact, but can have short rhizomes between growth thanks to Paph. micranthum. Still a great choice for light gardens. Appreciates a winter rest.

Paphiopedilum Memoria Nicholas Hamann
(P. wardii forma alboviride ’Green Flash’ X P. Jaqueline’s Joy ‘Lightness’)

Albino Paph species are very popular recently. Paph. wardii's albino form isn't too difficult to grow and bloom, but they can be difficult to locate and can be pricy. These are nearly dead ringers for Paph. wardii forma alboviride, but are very affordable. The flowers are larger than the species too. Colors are strong green, white, and a touch of yellow-green with the typcial Paph. wardii shape. Compact plants great for light gardens.

Paphiopedilum Memoria Professor Ken Seldman
(P. malipoense 'Joyous Gard' X P. moquetteanum 'Autumn')

We used to call these Paph. Guacamole until moquettianum was separated from Paph. glaucophyllum (for good reason in our opinion). A couple or four beefy, semi-successive green to chartreuse flowers with pink-red markings and highlights on tall stems. Pouches have varying degrees of pink. Paph. Paphiopedilum Norito Hasegawa
(P. malipoense 'Emerald' X P. armeniacum 'New Year')
A fantastic Parvisepalum primary hybrid between Paph. malipoense and Paph. armeniacum. These species both have the same basic form, but one is green and the other is golden yellow. The results give a range of colors with most being yellow-green (how logical). Flowers held well above attractive leaves with a compact plant habit. As long as the inflorescence isn't allowed to grow into the lights, this is a great choice for light gardens.

Paphiopedilum Oberhausens Diamant
(P. primulinum X P. sanderianum)

Paph. sanderianum is slow to mature and is expensive. Get around these issues with this hybrid. Crossing sandy to Paph. primulinum increases vigor and makes these faster to mature, thus more affordable. Honey toned multifloral with nice dangly petals. No, the petals aren't a couple feet long like sandy, but they are respectable. Blooming size plants.

Paphiopedilum Pink Elegance
(P. Delrosi 'Delicate Lady' X P. glaucophyllum 'Sunburst')
Paph. Delrosi is a wonderful hybrid, but many are slow to bloom then wait between reblooming; here the idea is to get Delrosi-like flowers on younger plants and yearly; Paph. glaucophyllum helps with that goal quite a bit and we are very satisfied with the outcome; petals are narrower than Delrosi, but the color is there; recommended!

Paph. sanderianum, and Paph. rothschildianum, king of Paphs, with a horizontal spread sometimes exceeding one foot. Paphiopedilum Wössner Vietnam Gold
(
P. armeniacum X P. vietnamense 'October Bride')
Very interestingly, this hybrid has shown us the closest to peach we've seen in any Paph. Paph. vietnamense does not behave like its close cousin, Paph. delenatii, which quenches yellows. Paph. vietnamense's red spots on the pouch interior shine through the golden pouch to give peach or apricot color. Intermediate in form between both parents, but usually rounder and "tighter feeling" like Paph. armeniacum. A slight twist to the dorsal sepal is typical.

Paphiopedilum (P. Lady Isabel 'May' X P. wilhelminae 'Select')
Paph. Lady Isabel is (P. rothschildianum X P. stonei) and is a wonderful thing. Paphiopedilum
(P. liemianum X P. Avalon Mist)

All successively-blooming Cochlopetalum species in this hybrid with two doses of Paph. primulinum, one part Paph. glaucophyllum, and a dash of Paph. liemianum for good measure. You really can't go wrong here if you want something easy to bloom. Once these get going, they're hard to stop. Can be almost everblooming as each inflorescence will have many flowers one after the next, and new growths spike up as soon as they mature regardless of season. Expect pink pouches, hairy green-white petals spotted brown, and a green dorsal sepal with a light halo. Blooming size plants. Some spiking 11/03/10.

Paph. Pine Glow is a Cochlopetalum hybrid (Paph. Pinocchio X Paph. glaucophyllum) resembling the species in that section. Gives several flowers successively over many months to years. Paph. vietnamense is behaving like Paph. delenatii in hybridization, but doesn't tend to hide color and, in fact, lends more intense coloration. Expect flowers similar to Paph. Gina Short, Paph. Deperle, etc but heavier, darker pink overlay. Update: the first have bloomed and they blow Gina Short and friends out of the water! Big! Bold pinks! Two to three flowers as first bloom seedlings with good lasting qualities (two weeks or more per flower)! Fuzzy! They are a little wacky in the form department sometimes, but still super nice.
